How-to use a custom panel ?

First of all, there are 2 kinds of split-screens

The animated one

It’s an animated split-screen where a panel appears and covers the background. It’s ideal for photography or video, but not for a cut-out image.

The animated split-screen is configured like that:

The panel will cover your background (image or video), like the picture below:

Note that the background size is the same as your video size and a part of your background will be covered by the panel.

So you will need to have a 16:9 ratio background size. Like 1280×720 or 1920×1080

To create the right image or video:

  1. click on edit and crop to your image
  2. enter 1280 in Width and 720 in Height
  3. click on the link icon to lock the ratio
  4. You can now select the right part of your image: move and resize the area.
The image created will be exactly the image that will appear in the video.

Remember that half of your background (image or video) will be covered and you have 3 covered modes:

Background move – None

The background will not move when the panel appears. It means that a part of your background will be masked (in dark in the picture below). So make sure that the main part of your image is at the opposite side of your panel (the right here).

Background Move – Center

The background will move when the split-screen appears and keep the center of the image at the center of the area. It means that a part of your background will be masked (in dark in the picture below). So make sure that the main part of your image is in the center.

Background Move – Push

The background will move when the split-screen appears and pushes the image. It means that a part of your background will be masked (in dark in the picture below). So make sure that the main part of your image is on the same side of your panel (left here)

And the Static One

It’s a split-screen where the video is divided by a panel and a background. It’s ideal for photography or video, and also for the cut-out image.

The static split-screen is configured like that:

There are no animation of the panel and the background size is half of the video size.

Ideal size for background is half video ratio like 640×720 or 960×1080.

To create the right image or video:

  1. click on edit to your image
  2. enter 960 in Width and 1080 in Height
  3. click on the link icon to lock the ratio
  4. You can now select the right part of your image: move and resize the area.
The image created will be exactly the image that will appear in the video.

If your initial image does not contain enough space, you can start by adding space.

  1. Start by adding space to be sure to have enough space. 100 pixel at each border

2. copy as a medium the new version created

3. and crop the medium to the correct area like above
